Prerequisites
What you need to bring with you
- Water to drink and food to eat for each day of your course.
- Log book(s), Licences and Medical Certificate
- Association membership
- Additionally, if abroad abroad, Passport, Driving Licence, Accident insurance including repatriation, National insurance no E111 available from your post office.
- Your own equipment if you have some and some kind of service history. We reserve the right to inspect your kit that is to be used in the school.
What you will learn
- Take off techniques for hill launching.
- Techniques for flying with other aircraft in close proximity along ridges and on mountain sides
- Soaring techniques in both dynamic and theremal lift generated by ridges and mountains.
- Study of wind and air currents and an understanding of how these are affected by ridges, hills and mountains.
- Top landings, where appropriate and when conditions allow.
The tasks you will need to complete
- 12 take offs and landings from flatland or gentle slopes
- Practice the above until it is possible to control the glider during the task and avoid touching the wing tip to the ground.
- 3 flights of 5 minutes duration ending with good standup landings.

Course Timetable
- The course time-table always varies due to weather conditions and location.
Morning and evening air is generally better for training as the air is calmer, therefore, it is necessary to discuss with your instructor his plan for the start time of your course.
