Prerequisites

• Current member of the BHPA and hold a CPC rating with a minimum of 10 hours airtime (or 100 tow launches)
  

What you need to bring with you

• Water to drink and food to eat for each day of your course.
• Association membership
• Additionally, if abroad abroad, Passport, Driving Licence, Accident insurance including repatriation, National insurance no E111 available from your post office.

What you will learn

• How to instruct a person through the various stages of learning to fly a hang glider.
• All aspects of tow training, the hardware used, recognised procedures and course formats involved in training students on both EPC and CPC courses.
• To have a thorough understanding of teaching methods, applying these methods to the required syllabus and to adopt a structured approach to pre-flight briefings.
• To operating the tow equipment, an important skill to anyone seeking employment with a tow school, although this is not an obligatory part of the course.

The tasks you will need to complete

• A minimum of 12 days observation, as an assistant to an instructor.
• A minimum of 28 days, hands on, instructing under the direct supervision of an instructor.
• Satisfactorily give lectures to students on Meteorology, Flight Principles, Airlaw and Airmanship.
• Be thoroughly familiar with the content of the BHPA Technical Manual and the Operational Administration of the school
• Note: The number of days required, as stated above, is a minimum and is solely dependent on a students aptitude to become an instructor
